Supplemental Payments for Educators

Educators will continue to receive bonuses tied to their professional rank, calculated as a percentage of their base salary. As of January 2026, teachers will be entitled to various additional payments. These include supplements for:

  • exceeding the standard teaching load;
  • grading written assignments;
  • serving as a homeroom teacher;
  • managing a classroom or laboratory;
  • years of service;
  • the prestige of the role;
  • professional certification;
  • working in an inclusive classroom setting.

More specifically, the supplement for teaching load is based on exceeding the standard 18-hour weekly norm. Payments for grading written work range from 10% to 20%, depending on the subject, while homeroom teacher supplements are between 10% and 25%. Educators will also receive:

  • 10% to 20% for managing a classroom or lab;
  • 10% to 30% for years of service;
  • 5% to 30% for the prestige of their work;
  • 20% for professional certification;
  • 20% for teaching in an inclusive classroom.

Furthermore, teachers are eligible for an additional monthly hardship allowance of either 2,000 or 4,000 UAH for working in challenging conditions. The base salary rate from January 2026 will be 3,470 UAH. For school teachers, pay grades 10 through 14 of the tariff system will apply. This reform is part of broader efforts to modernize Ukraine's education sector and make teaching a more attractive profession, especially following the disruptions caused by the ongoing war.
