Zelenskyy Visits Donetsk Front, Warns of Imminent Russian Offensive and Urges Military Resupply.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Visit to Donetsk Oblast
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy traveled to the Donetsk region on March 6, 2026, where he warned of an impending new offensive by Russian occupying forces and stressed the urgent need to resupply Ukrainian military brigades. His visit underscores the intense pressure on this eastern front, where Ukrainian forces have been defending against near-constant assaults. During the trip, Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the soldiers defending the country and emphasized the critical importance of strengthening Ukrainian military positions.
In Druzhkivka, Zelenskyy met with troops, stating:
"This is Donetsk region today—our land, our warriors. I want to thank all of you—everyone who is defending our state!"The President highlighted the necessity of providing for specific Ukrainian brigades, including:
- The 28th Brigade
- The Sotnia ("Hundred") Brigade
- The 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade
- The 36th Marine Brigade
The situation in Donetsk Oblast remains severe. On the morning of March 2, Russian forces struck the cities of Kramatorsk and Druzhkivka, killing at least five people. In late February, occupiers attacked a vehicle carrying workers from the Sloviansk Thermal Power Plant, resulting in three fatalities. Also in February, a fire and rescue station in Kramatorsk was shelled, damaging three pieces of equipment.
Support for Ukrainian Military Forces
Volodymyr Zelenskyy underscored his point:
"It is vital that our positions are strong. It is vital that the provision for our brigades is sufficient."He also thanked all those supporting Ukraine:
"Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine! Thank you to everyone who fights against Russia, who protects lives. Glory to our warriors!"The President noted his gratitude "for the defense of the Eastern direction, which is so important for Ukraine. The stronger we are here, the stronger we are in the negotiation process."
Zelenskyy's frontline visit signals both his direct support for the troops and the gravity of the situation in Donetsk amid renewed attacks by the occupiers. By stressing the need for military resupply, the President aims to bolster the morale of Ukrainian defenders and demonstrate the state's commitment to supporting them in the fight for the country's territorial integrity. The critical conditions in Donetsk demand active measures and sustained attention from the nation's leadership.
