Ukrainians Warned of Imminent Russian Mass Strike: Zelenskyy's Urgent Call for Vigilance.
New Threats Addressed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
According to UATV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has alerted the public that Russia is preparing another large-scale attack, urging citizens to stay alert to air raid warnings. He emphasized that continued international assistance is crucial to strengthening Ukraine's air defense systems. These remarks come as the country marks day 1,556 of Russia's full-scale invasion, underscoring the persistent danger Ukraine faces.
High-Level Military Meeting on Defense Strategy
On May 29, 2023, Zelenskyy convened a meeting with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi and Chief of the General Staff Andriy Hnatov. Discussions centered on national defense and the need to intensify global support for Ukraine.
“Air defense and the ongoing need to help Ukraine protect its skies remain our top priority,” Zelenskyy stated.
A key development was the report of a Russian drone strike on a residential building in Romania. In response, Zelenskyy affirmed Ukraine's readiness to assist Romania:
“We agreed with Nicușor that Ukraine will support Romania in this situation.”He also stressed the importance of diplomatic focus, noting, “Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha gave a detailed briefing today—all our diplomatic representatives must concentrate their efforts.”
Zelenskyy further highlighted that Ukraine is actively defending itself and achieving significant objectives, particularly targeting Russian logistics and oil infrastructure: “We are defending ourselves actively, and it's important that we continue to achieve our goals, especially regarding Russian logistics and the Russian oil industry.” These statements reflect Ukraine's unwavering readiness to protect its territory and the critical role of international support amid ongoing aggression.
President Zelenskyy's remarks underscore the severe challenges Ukraine continues to face as the war persists. By stressing the need for global backing and stronger air defenses, Ukrainian authorities demonstrate their focus on ensuring citizen safety and national security. The drone strike incident in Romania also illustrates that the threat of aggression extends beyond Ukraine's borders, calling for greater coordination and cooperation among regional allies.
