The title of Hero has been awarded to three defenders of Ukraine
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has awarded the title of Hero to three defenders of Ukraine, two of whom posthumously. This is reported by the President's Office.
“29-year-old commander of the SSO group Yevhen Lemeshchenko (scouting nickname Pecheneg) fell during a mission in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation,” the report states.
Yevhen Lemeshchenko worked as a physical education and sports teacher at Fastiv Secondary School No. 7. He was a well-known scout and visited scouting camps and training sessions many times. After improving his training at the Special Forces Training Center, he joined the 73rd Special Forces Center, where he became a group commander. He was killed on September 16 in the Kursk region during a combat mission in Russia.
Additionally, the title of Hero of Ukraine was awarded to Major Kozub Yaroslav Vitaliyovych and Senior Sailor Ocheretny Maxim Mykhailovych, the latter posthumously. Yesterday, the president also posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to several servicemen.
