Zelenskyy Details Russia's Winter Barrage: A Tally of Missiles, Drones, and Bombs.
Russia's Winter Assault on Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: In a Facebook post on March 1, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed the staggering volume of munitions fired by Russian forces this winter, underscoring the intensity of the attacks endured by Ukraine. This disclosure comes as the war enters its third year, with Ukraine facing persistent pressure on its energy grid and cities.
According to the data, Russian occupiers launched nearly 19,000 attack drones over the winter season. The final week of winter alone saw a massive influx of firepower:
- 1,720 attack drones;
- Nearly 1,300 guided aerial bombs;
- More than 100 missiles of various types.
In total, over the three winter months, Russian forces unleashed more than 14,670 guided aerial bombs and 738 missiles.
Recent strikes included an attack on Odesa on the night of February 29 into March 1, and a drone hit on a dormitory in Kharkiv's Shevchenkivskyi district. President Zelenskyy stated:
'Yet despite everything, Ukrainians endured this difficult winter, a period in which Russia did not even attempt to justify its savage strikes on civilian critical infrastructure.' — Volodymyr Zelenskyy
These figures illustrate an unprecedented level of violence and destructive attacks faced by Ukraine over the last three months. The targeting of civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings and critical facilities, highlights the ongoing threat posed by Russian aggression. The recent events indicate the conflict continues to escalate, despite international condemnation and diplomatic efforts to resolve the situation.
