Zelensky: Trump could be the first leader to fly to Ukraine on an official plane.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that US President Donald Trump could be the first in his position to visit Ukraine on an official plane after the war ends. Zelensky emphasized that such a visit would be symbolic.
Friedman, reacting to this, jokingly suggested that such a visit could happen on Zelensky's birthday, January 25.
Zelensky noted that he hopes the airport in Ukraine will reopen, but this requires a stable ceasefire, the absence of war, and developed air defense systems.
The president pointed out that the establishment of air defense systems at the Rzeszów airport in Poland, which handles cargo for Ukraine and is under the protection of 'Patriot' systems, poses a significant risk from Russia. Therefore, relocating air defense systems from a currently bombarded territory to the airport is unfair. Zelensky stressed that, for him, human life will always be more important than planes.
It is important to note that this interview is part of Lex Friedman’s podcast, which lasted over three hours. Zelensky also spoke about how Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko apologized in the early days of the war and claimed that he was not to blame for the rockets launched into Ukraine.
It should be noted that Lex Friedman has been conducting his podcast since 2018 and always records extensive interviews in person, lasting from two to four hours. Among his guests have been notable personalities such as Elon Musk, Donald Trump, and Javier Milei.
After the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Friedman supported the Ukrainian people and expressed his support for their culture without external influence.
