According to ТСН: On Monday, cloudy weather will prevail in Ukraine. Light wet snow is expected in most regions, with possible rain during the day. Significant precipitation is not forecasted in the west and southwest of the country.

In the western, northern, and central regions, fog may be observed at night and in the morning. The wind will be from the west and northwest at a speed of 5–10 m/s.

At night, air temperature will fluctuate from 2 degrees Celsius to 3 degrees below zero. During the day, temperatures are expected to range from 0 to 5 degrees Celsius. In the east and northeast, overnight temperatures are forecasted at 3–8 degrees below zero, while during the day they will be around zero.

Ice on the roads

Forecasters warn of possible ice on the roads in the northern, central, and eastern regions, as well as in the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions. The first level of danger has been announced.

Weather conditions may complicate traffic, so drivers are advised to be particularly cautious and adhere to safe speeds.

Risk of hypothermia

In winter, people are often threatened by hypothermia, the risk of which has increased this year due to regular shelling of civilian infrastructure. Many Ukrainians remain without heating due to these attacks.

Hypothermia occurs when body temperature drops below 36.6 °C, reaching dangerous levels. This usually happens as a result of prolonged exposure to cold, with the most vulnerable being dehydrated and physically exhausted individuals, specialists emphasize.

Symptoms of hypothermia develop gradually. Among them:

  • shivering,
  • decreased physical activity,
  • speech impairment,
  • shallow breathing,
  • weak pulse,
  • loss of coordination,
  • drowsiness,
  • confusion,
  • unconsciousness,
  • cold skin with a bluish or bright red hue.

Rescuers recommend consuming enough warm fluids and dressing in layers to prevent hypothermia: wearing underwear and thermal underwear, an insulating middle layer, as well as warm outerwear with a hat, scarf, and gloves.

In the situation with the weather, it is important to be cautious, especially for those planning to be outdoors. Hypothermia can be dangerous, so it's necessary to keep an eye on yourself and loved ones, especially in conditions of low temperatures. Drivers are reminded of the importance of safe driving during icy conditions to avoid injuries.
