A woman from Transcarpathia was fined 510 thousand for trafficking conscripts to Romania.
A resident of Transcarpathia joined an organized group that transported conscripts to Romania. She was fined for smuggling people across the state border of Ukraine.
The relevant decision was made by the Ivano-Frankivsk City Court of Ivano-Frankivsk region on August 7.
Details of the case
According to the court materials, last December, members of the group promised to provide a conscript with fake documents and smuggle him abroad avoiding checkpoints. The client was delivered by car to the Rakhiv district of the Transcarpathian region and taken through mountain routes across the Biala Tysa River to Romania. For this service, the man paid six thousand dollars. The accused was responsible for receiving and distributing the payments among the group members.
Court ruling
The accused expressed remorse, cooperated with the investigation, and donated part of the bail amounting to 340 thousand 650 hryvnias to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the court hearing, she did not deny her guilt. The woman was sentenced to pay a fine of 510 thousand hryvnias. Her property will not be confiscated.
An appeal can still be filed against the court’s decision.
