A woman was arrested in the US for hiding blades in bread at supermarkets.
According to ТСН: In the American city of Biloxi, Mississippi, shoppers discovered blades inside bread in two supermarkets. After citizen reports, the police launched an investigation and arrested a woman from Texas, suspected of attempting to cause harm to others.
The suspect, 33-year-old Camille Benson, has been charged with attempted mayhem. Her bail is set at $100,000.
Incidents at supermarkets
According to Biloxi police spokeswoman, Lieutenant Kendes Young, blades were found in bread at Walmart Supercenter and Walmart Neighborhood Market. The first incident occurred on December 5, when a customer found a blade in purchased bread. The next time, on December 8, another shopper discovered a blade in a baked product.
After a report from one of the shoppers, Walmart Supercenter employees conducted a check and found several more damaged baked products. The information about the situation was forwarded to the police on Monday.
Call to shoppers
In a press release, the police urged everyone who bought bread in these stores to check their purchases and report any findings.
Walmart stated:
“The health and safety of our customers is always a priority. We have removed and thoroughly checked all potentially hazardous products in Biloxi stores. We are grateful to law enforcement for their quick response and will continue to cooperate with them during the investigation.”
Law enforcement added that currently there are no signs that other stores have fallen victim to similar incidents. If any damaged products are found, the company recommends disposing of them and contacting the nearest Walmart for a full refund.
This situation has caused concern among Biloxi residents, as such cases can threaten consumer safety. The police continue the investigation to clarify all details of the incident and ensure safe conditions for buyers. Walmart assures that customer safety remains their priority, and they are ready to do everything possible to eliminate risks.
