The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga, along with diplomats from other countries, left the OSCE meeting before the speech of the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Among the diplomats who also left the hall were the Foreign Ministers of Poland and the Czech Republic, Radek Sikorski and Jan Lipavský.

As recorded in a video released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the group of diplomats left the meeting demonstratively. Sikorski and Lipavský had previously publicly stated their intention not to listen to the speech of the Russian minister.

In his speech at the OSCE meeting, Sybiga called Lavrov a war criminal and warned against trusting Russian statements about a desire for peace. According to him, the Kremlin's talk about negotiations is an attempt to divert attention from its own crimes.

'Moscow is trying to justify all this with so-called 'legitimate security interests'. But my people's right to exist is not a legitimate interest of the Russian Federation in the field of security. The choice of my nation regarding its own future is not a legitimate interest of Russia in the field of security,' emphasized the Ukrainian minister.

Sybiga stressed that Russia aims to create a new system of spheres of influence: 'There will be no Yalta-2 or Minsk-3. Ukraine wants to achieve a just peace. And respect for principles for all.'

The meeting of foreign ministers from 57 participating OSCE countries is taking place in Malta. Notably, this is Lavrov's first trip to an EU country since February 2022. The day before, the Maltese authorities revoked the visa of Lavrov's spokesperson Maria Zakharova.
