In Odesa, the released marine was beaten: the TCC initiated a service investigation

According to ТСН: An investigation into the attack on serviceman Roman Pokidko, a defender of Mariupol, is ongoing in Odesa. According to activists, he was beaten by employees of the Territorial Recruitment Center (TCC) and thrown out of a car. The TCC in Odesa has already confirmed that a service investigation has been launched.

Details of the incident and statement from the public organization

Roman Pokidko has been serving in the 36th Separate Marine Brigade since 2018. He was recently released from captivity. During rehabilitation in Odesa, on December 4, a group of nine individuals, who identified themselves as employees of the Peresyp District TCC, stopped him.

The public organization reported:

“Despite the documents he presented: military ID, medical certificates, and the certificate of a combat veteran, Roman Pokidko was forced into the TCC service car. He sustained bodily injuries: tear gas was used against him and he was beaten. After that, while the vehicle was in motion, Roman was thrown out of the car, creating a threat to the serviceman's life.”

Activists also emphasized that TCC representatives had no body cameras. Currently, Roman is undergoing medical examination in the hospital. The public organization 'Defense of the State' demands a fair investigation of this case.

Response from the Odesa TCC

The Odesa Regional TCC confirmed that it is aware of the incident and initiated a service investigation even before the event was publicized. The TCC leadership emphasized that the status of a serviceman deserves respect and that the TCC is ready to cooperate with law enforcement agencies.

The TCC leadership noted:

“If during the investigation it is proven that the TCC and SP servicemen exceeded their authority or committed illegal actions against a fellow serviceman, they will face the strictest punishment prescribed by law.”

The Regional TCC called on everyone to wait for the official results of the law enforcement investigation. The importance of this case underscores the need to ensure the protection of the rights of servicemen and to maintain law and order in the country. The situation raises concerns in society, as defenders of the country have the right to safely perform their duties and expect dignified treatment.
