The Tragic Passing of Viktor Khariv
According to TSN.ua: A 53-year-old soldier of Ukraine’s National Guard, Viktor Khariv, has died in Lviv after surviving 113 days surrounded by enemy forces near Myrnohrad. This courageous fighter demonstrated extraordinary heroism by refusing to abandon a severely wounded fellow soldier, an act that earned him the heartfelt gratitude of the rescued man’s mother.
Khariv returned to Ukraine from France in early spring 2022 and subsequently joined the 2nd Separate Galician Brigade of the National Guard. During intense combat operations near Myrnohrad, he displayed remarkable bravery while saving his gravely injured comrade. The rescued guardsman later underwent complex surgeries and continues to receive medical treatment.
Remembering a Hero
Sadly, Viktor Khariv passed away on March 30, 2026, at a hospital in Lviv. He is survived by his wife Zoryana and their two children, Severyn and Yaryna. His heroism did not go unnoticed. As Iryna Klyuchkovska, mother of the rescued soldier, recalled:
