January 12: What is strictly forbidden to do on St. Tatiana's Day.
According to ТСН: Tomorrow, in the Orthodox calendar, is the Memorial Day of St. Tatiana. Saint Tatiana was born in Rome in the 2nd century, around the early 200s. She came from a wealthy and educated family; her father, Theophilus, held a high position in the Roman administration. Tatiana was well-educated, but she was raised in the spirit of Roman culture.
From an early age, she showed significant spiritual gifts, prayed a lot, studied the Holy Scriptures, and helped the poor. Although she had material goods, the saint chose the path of spirituality over worldly pleasures.
Tatiana accepted the Christian faith at a time when the Roman Empire was actively persecuting Christians. She took a vow of virginity, dedicating her life to serving God, aware of all the dangers associated with this choice.
Saint Tatiana was known for her mercy, helping the sick, hungry, and imprisoned. Her home became a gathering place for Christians who, facing persecution, could not attend churches.
Tatiana stood before the Roman authorities during the persecutions of Christians, likely under Emperor Alexander Severus or Antoninus Pius. She was offered to renounce her faith and make a sacrifice to pagan gods, but she resolutely refused.
Eventually, the saint was executed by the sword, accepting martyrdom.

What can be done tomorrow
In ancient times, on Tatiana's day, families baked a loaf of bread, symbolizing the sun, which was prepared by the eldest woman and shared among all relatives, giving each piece warmth and blessings. It was believed that by sunset one should perform a good deed: give charity, help those in need, feed birds or stray animals. Folk wisdom asserts that every kindness comes back, and St. Tatiana will help fulfill a cherished wish.
Celebrating St. Tatiana's Day has become traditional for many Ukrainians. It is not only a religious holiday but also an opportunity to look into one's heart and do something good for others. Young people usually honor the saint by communicating with their loved ones and trying to adhere to her principles of charity in their lives.
