Priest Filjuk on LGBT: why the Church does not bless same-sex relationships.
The Church's position on gender identity and LGBT rights
According to ТСН: Priest-blogger Oleksiy Filjuk from Ternopil expressed his opinion on the Church's attitude towards gender identity and the rights of the LGBT community. In his Instagram, he shared his thoughts on same-sex marriage, noting that both the Church and he personally view it negatively.
"The Church and the Word of God call black black. Therefore, same-sex relationships are not blessed, because they are a sin and an abomination in the eyes of God. The Church will not change its position. Someone says somewhere in Rome or elsewhere. We are not responsible for Rome. We have the Word of God. And the Word of God states that a man should not sleep with a man as he sleeps with a woman, and a woman with a woman. Sin is sin. Period. Amen. The wages of sin is death. Physical death came through sin and spiritual death. Someone will say: love, all that... Yes, let us love, let us make peace. Let us love everyone... Let us not be enemies! But sin remains sin," said the priest.
Filjuk emphasized that the Church does not bless same-sex relationships due to their sinful nature.
"Someone says: 'But there somewhere... there, still there...' There is everything. And in flocks, there are sheep that are harmful and spoil the whole flock. It is everywhere, and it also exists in the church. Things happen differently. Therefore, we hold on to God's Word. And sin is called a sin. And we do not deviate from the righteous path, but honor family values," urged the priest.
Priest Oleksiy Filjuk has also previously spoken about the issue of women's dress code in church, noting that adherence to certain norms is important for preserving traditions and values. His position on gender identity and LGBT rights reflects the Church's overall doctrine, which remains conservative on these issues.
The discussion of gender identity and LGBT rights in society remains active and controversial. Many representatives of the Church continue to assert that adherence to traditional values is the foundation of their faith, which may affect the future development of dialogue among various social groups.
