What holiday is tomorrow

Tomorrow, on December 20, believers celebrate the Day of Remembrance of Saint Ignatius the Godbearer. Ignatius the Godbearer lived in the 1st century (approximately 35–107 AD) and was the second bishop of Antioch, after the Apostle Peter, one of the main centers of the early Church. He was called 'the Godbearer' because of the deep faith and spirituality he demonstrated in his words and actions. Ignatius became a victim of persecution of Christians during the reign of Emperor Trajan, was arrested, and sent to Rome, where he was to become prey for wild beasts in the arenas. On his way to Rome, he wrote letters to various Christian communities, which later became known as the 'Letters of Ignatius' and remained an important source of knowledge about faith and martyrdom.

In Ukraine, they also celebrate the Day of Honoring Pensioners and Veterans of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This professional holiday is dedicated to people who have served for many years in law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, particularly in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police. This day symbolizes great respect and gratitude to all workers who have completed their service but made significant contributions to ensuring public order, citizen safety, and the legal order in the country.

Also on December 20, International Human Solidarity Day is celebrated. On this day, people around the world talk about the importance of unity and mutual support. This date was chosen after the UN General Assembly adopted the relevant resolution (No. 60/209) in 2005, which states that solidarity is a fundamental value of international relations in the 21st century. Solidarity is about mutual support and cooperation among people and nations in their quest to address common challenges.

Moreover, on December 20, Games Day is celebrated. This light-hearted and fun holiday is dedicated to everything related to games and gaming activities. The holiday arose in 1975 thanks to the British company Games Workshop, known for producing tabletop and fantasy games. The first celebration took place in London as a gaming event, which later turned into an annual tradition for gamers and game lovers around the world.

The celebration of these holidays in December gives Ukrainians the opportunity to summarize the year, honoring the memory of outstanding individuals, showing attention to pensioners and veterans, and also reminding about the importance of solidarity. In particular, Games Day can become an excellent opportunity for understanding and communication between people, which, against the backdrop of the difficult times of war, becomes even more relevant.
