Russia strikes rockets at the center of Kharkiv: rescuers found 12 people.
According to ТСН: On Friday, Russia launched a missile strike on Kharkiv, targeting civilian infrastructure in the city center, resulting in significant destruction in a residential area. The number of casualties is increasing, and rescuers continue their work.
This was reported by the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office.
Chronology of terror
The strikes occurred on January 2 around 14:30. According to the investigation, the armed forces of the Russian Federation fired two missiles at the Kyivskyi district. Preliminary data suggest they were Iskander-type ballistic missiles, which leave virtually no time for reaction for air defense systems.
It is noted that the strike led to significant destruction:
A trading and office building was completely destroyed.
A part of the adjacent entrance of a 4-story residential building was destroyed.
Casualties and rescues
According to the latest data, the number of injured has risen to 31 people, including a child - an infant.
Rescuers are conducting heroic work at the scene. 12 people have been rescued from the rubble and trapped premises.
The search and rescue operation continues, as there is a possibility that more people may still be under the rubble. Information about possible victims is being clarified.
Response of law enforcement
All emergency services are working on site: machinery is clearing concrete slabs, medical staff are providing assistance, and investigators are gathering evidence of this war crime.
According to the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated regarding the violation of the laws and customs of war. Prosecutors have also released footage of the aftermath of the strike taken by a drone, demonstrating the scale of destruction in the city center.
It should be noted that President Zelensky mentioned that on January 2, the enemy fired two missiles at the residential area in Kharkiv.
This tragic event in Kharkiv underscores how important the safety of civilians in conflict zones is.
