According to ТСН: During prolonged power outages, the issue of safety in cold living spaces becomes extremely relevant. Using gas stoves for heating can be dangerous.

Recommendations from the expert

This was the opinion expressed by mountaineer and motivational speaker Tetiana Yalovchak during a broadcast on 'Kyiv24'. She emphasized that in a severely chilled room, it is important to reduce the area that needs to be heated. One solution could be to set up a tourist tent or a children's wigwam right in the room.

'In a small closed space, it is significantly easier to retain heat — it can literally be 'held' by your own breath,' Yalovchak explained.

Hot drinks during outages

The mountaineer also stressed the importance of quickly obtaining hot water. She uses tourist equipment, such as the Jetboil system, which allows boiling a liter of water in about two minutes.

Yalovchak added that modern camping stoves, when used correctly, can be safer than household gas appliances and provide hot drinks without the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Currently, many people in Kyiv and the surrounding area are left without electricity and heating due to Russian shelling.

In the challenging conditions faced by the residents of the capital, it is important to follow safety recommendations from experts. The measures discussed can help retain heat and provide necessary living conditions in critical situations. It is recommended to be especially cautious in conditions when temperatures drop significantly, and heating options are limited.
