According to TSN.ua: On the morning of March 16, 2023, Kyiv came under assault by Russian forces using drones. The strikes began around 8:30 AM local time, with explosions recorded in three areas of the capital: Independence Square (Maidan Nezalezhnosti), and the Shevchenkivskyi, Solomyanskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi districts. In Sviatoshynskyi, a grass fire broke out, but according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, there were no fires or casualties.

Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, also confirmed no injuries in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Following the initial wave, a second air raid alert was issued, signaling ongoing threats. Reports indicate that approximately 30 drones were deployed, including both attack and reconnaissance UAVs. Yuriy Ihnat noted that most of them were shot down.

Authorities Urge Caution

The Kyiv City Military Administration called on residents to remain vigilant, warning of the potential use of ballistic weapons by the enemy.

“Attention! An air raid alert has been declared in Kyiv due to the threat of the enemy using ballistic weapons,” the administration stated.
They also announced the danger of missile strikes:
“Please proceed to shelters!”

Yuriy Ihnat remarked that this attack was unusual for the early morning hours, highlighting an escalation in hostile activities. The situation in the capital remains under control, with authorities continuously monitoring developments.
