Attack on the Ivano-Frankivsk Region
According to TSN.ua: On April 1, the Russian military launched a drone attack targeting the Ivano-Frankivsk region. The assault caused widespread power outages, leaving approximately 11,000 subscribers without electricity—a stark reminder of the ongoing threat to Ukraine's energy grid.
Most of the blackouts occurred in the Kolomyia district, affecting around 11,000 customers. The following communities were completely cut off from power:
- Sniatyn
- Zabolotiv
- Pidhaichyky
- Matiivtsi
Partial outages were also reported in the Hvizdets community. Explosions were heard in several towns during the attack, including Sniatyn and Burshtyn.
Svitlana Onyshchuk: 'Critical infrastructure was in the crosshairs. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties. Damage assessments are currently underway.'
Emergency power cuts were implemented across parts of the region, underscoring the severity of the situation and the danger posed by such strikes.
