Passengers Evacuated After Drone Attack on Train in Central Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: A passenger train in central Ukraine came under attack from Russian Shahed drones, triggering an emergency evacuation. The incident unfolded while the train was moving, forcing passengers—including children who had just completed medical treatment—to take cover beneath the train cars.
Panic Erupts as Railway Updates Safety Protocols
The assault sparked widespread panic among those on board. Witness Tetiana Zaiets described the terrifying experience, stating,
“Now I know what it’s like when a swarm of Shahed drones comes at you.”She added that
“the last car in the train carried children who were being brought back after receiving medical care.”Despite the chaos, passengers received an all-clear signal, offering immense relief. “Thank God, the alarm was lifted. We are alive,” she said.
In response to the attack, Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) has revised its policy on stopping trains during air raids to better protect passengers. The new rules are expected to change how trains halt and how evacuations are conducted, highlighting the need to adapt to ongoing wartime threats. Such incidents underscore the critical importance of emergency preparedness and civilian protection.
This event illustrates the growing danger posed by drones in modern conflicts and emphasizes the necessity of passenger safety during wartime travel. By adjusting its procedures, Ukrainian Railways is taking a vital step toward safeguarding civilians who rely on rail transport. In times of war, continuously updating security measures is essential to preserving lives.
