Scheduled Power Cuts to Replace Emergency Blackouts in Ukraine Starting March 24.
Ukraine's Power Supply Situation
According to TSN.ua: Emergency power outages have been lifted across Ukraine, but starting March 24, 2023, most regions will face planned electricity restrictions. This shift comes in response to widespread damage to the country's energy infrastructure caused by intense Russian missile and drone strikes.
Power Restriction Schedules
To stabilize the grid, capacity limits for industrial users will be enforced between 6:00 AM and midnight. Additionally, hourly blackout schedules for households will run from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM and again from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. These measures aim to better manage network loads and ensure a more balanced distribution of electricity among consumers.
On March 22, 2023, a fault at an energy facility left parts of Kyiv and the surrounding region without power. The energy situation remains tense, and these new restrictions are designed to reduce strain on the national power system.
Given the current challenges, the introduction of planned power limitations is a necessary step to maintain the stability of Ukraine's energy network. The infrastructure has suffered severe damage due to the ongoing war, and these actions are intended to ease pressure on the system. Addressing electricity supply remains a top priority for the government, as it directly impacts daily life and the country's economic activity.
