This war is already different. Zaluzhny explained what Ukraine's victory depends on.
Former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ambassador of Ukraine to Great Britain Valeriy Zaluzhny stated that Ukraine's victory now depends on the implementation of innovations and cutting-edge technologies. He notes that traditional types of armaments have become ineffective due to the emergence of unmanned systems and digital technologies. For example, armored vehicles, which were the backbone of offensive operations, are now defenseless against drones. Precision weapons that used GPS positioning have also become ineffective due to the development of electronic warfare.
As a result of these changes, the airspace over the battlefield has become inaccessible to piloted aviation, and the maritime space has been occupied by sea drones. Zaluzhny urges everyone to rethink the forms and methods of using new technologies, as this is a challenge for the whole world and a question of collective readiness for a new era of warfare where technology, information, and decision automation play a key role.
However, according to Zaluzhny, Russia's war against Ukraine has taken on the character of a war of attrition, similar to World War I. The enemy is capable of detecting the slightest movement and striking without warning, so there is a need to solidify the front line in the form of defensive fortifications. This has led to soldiers digging into trenches, making rotation of personnel or medical evacuation dangerous.
Valeriy Zaluzhny called on Romania to shoot down Russian drones that enter its territory during attacks on Ukraine. Additionally, he shared information about the work of the Ukrainian-American headquarters in Wiesbaden, which played an important role in planning and conducting the Armed Forces of Ukraine's operations in 2022-2023.
