According to ТСН: In the Lviv region, as of the morning of January 2, a complete power outage was recorded in nine settlements, while 39 were partially without electricity. The reason for this was strong gusts of wind, which are forecasted to last the entire day.

According to 'Lvivoblenergo', as of 08:00, nine settlements were completely de-energized in various areas of the region, while partial outages occurred in 39. The outages occurred in:

  • South REM (Drohobych, Boryslav, Stryi, Skole parts);

  • East REM (Busk part);

  • North REM (Peremyshlyany part).

To restore power supply, 19 teams from 'Lvivoblenergo' were engaged, consisting of 81 employees and 28 units of equipment.

Safety Rules

During the day in Lviv and the territory of the region, strong gusts of wind with speeds of 17-22 m/s are expected, so it is important to follow safety rules:

  • do not approach downed power lines closer than 8 m – this threatens life.

  • When leaving the danger zone, move 'goose step': keep your feet together, do not lift them from the ground, and move with short sliding steps.

  • If possible, organize barriers or guard duty near the place where the wire broke, so that outsiders do not approach before the arrival of the emergency response team from 'Lvivoblenergo'.

Let us remind you that the day before, the State Emergency Service warned of a sharp deterioration in weather conditions in the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Transcarpathian and Chernivtsi regions. On January 2, strong wind gusts of up to 15-25 m/s are forecasted. This may cause damage to power lines, falling trees, and disruptions in the operation of utility services.

Currently, it is important for the population to follow the safety instructions, as strong winds can create additional hazards. The teams of 'Lvivoblenergo' are working on restoring power supply, but in case of worsening weather conditions, the situation may remain tense.
