Experts checked fuel filling stations: where in Ukraine fuel is most often underfilled.
According to ТСН: Some sellers may start the practice of "underfilling" to maintain prices and keep profits. To clarify the situation, experts from the Institute of Consumer Expertise conducted a mass check of Ukrainian filling stations for the accuracy of diesel fuel filling.
Control samples were taken from premium networks (WOG, OKKO, KLO, AMIC, PARALLEL). Special attention was also given to second-tier networks such as AVANTAGE 7 (Kyiv), CHIPO (Vinnytsia), BVS (Poltava), BRSM-NAFTA, MARSHALL, VST (Odesa), FACTOR (Zhytomyr), and MANGO. Smaller regional networks popular in their cities were also checked: SLON (Odesa), EURO 5 (Kyiv), DIESEL-DISCOUNT (Kyiv), AERO 8, and ALLIANCE (Kyiv region). Afterward, samples were sent to an accredited laboratory for analysis.
Results of the check
Experts divided the results into three zones: "green," "blue," and "red." The "green" zone included participants with an underfill of no more than 0.15%. In the "blue" zone are networks that adhered to the allowable standard of up to 0.5% underfill. Violators fell into the "red" zone.
The smallest underfill was recorded in the WOG network, where it was only 0.05%, which equals 3 kopecks based on the ceiling price. PARALLEL and KLO also recorded small values - 0.1% (5 and 6 kopecks per liter, respectively). Other participants, such as OKKO, AVANTAGE 7, and SLON, had an underfill in the range of 8 kopecks per liter, which is considered acceptable to cover transportation and storage costs.
In the "blue" zone were networks that complied with the law with an underfill of up to 0.5%. The smallest values in AMIC, CHIPO, and MARSHALL were around 0.2%, or 11-15 kopecks per liter. Filling stations VST and DIESEL-DISCOUNT had an underfill of 0.5%, which in monetary terms is 28 and 27 kopecks.
Violators of filling accuracy
Only four networks turned out to be violators: BRSM-NAFTA, MANGO, AERO 8, and ALLIANCE. In BRSM-NAFTA, the underfill was 29 kopecks per liter. In AERO 8 and ALLIANCE, customers will receive 70 and 65 kopecks less respectively per liter of fuel.
"So far, there are no reasons to talk about mass underfilling in the fuel networks to deceive customers, but a deterioration in the fuel sales situation may lead to more radical methods," said director of the Institute Yuriy Chornobryvets.
This check highlights the importance of monitoring the quality of fuel supplied to the market. Compliance with filling standards is critically important for consumers and maintaining competition among filling stations. In times of market instability, similar checks may become a guarantee of honesty and transparency in this industry.
