According to ТСН: Snow, ice, and severe frost have caused transport chaos in several European countries.

Abnormal weather led to mass cancellations of flights and disruptions in railway operations. Accident statistics also showed a significant increase.

In particular, thousands of flights were canceled and delayed at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam and in Brussels over a few days. France also experienced mass cancellations and delays, with about a third of the country placed under a heightened meteorological hazard regime.

In the United Kingdom, horse racing and football matches were canceled due to adverse weather. Due to a power outage caused by frozen communications, the metro in Glasgow was closed.

What We Know About the Victims

In France, five people died. Authorities in the Landes region reported three fatalities, while two others were victims of road accidents in the Île-de-France region near Paris. Due to snowstorms and traffic jams, local authorities banned truck movement. One of the accidents occurred due to a collision with a truck in the east of the capital.

One casualty was recorded in the capital of Bosnia - Sarajevo, where a woman died after a snow-covered branch fell on her. Heavy snow and rain in the Balkans caused flooding, transport issues, as well as disruptions to electricity and water supply.

Forecasters warn that snowstorms and frosts are moving toward Ukraine. Difficult weather conditions are expected due to an active cyclone accelerating from the southwest. Bad weather is forecasted for the western, northern, as well as in the Vinnytsia and Cherkasy regions.

Thus, European countries are facing serious consequences from severe weather conditions. While many regions have to restore transport links, meteorologists warn of the continuation of bad weather, raising concerns even in Ukraine. It is recommended to be cautious on the roads and follow the recommendations of disaster relief services.
