Military Training to Be Conducted Inside Ukraine

According to TSN.ua: Ukraine’s General Staff of the Armed Forces is exploring the idea of centralizing military training within the country’s borders. The move stems from concerns that foreign instructors lack sufficient battlefield experience, making them disconnected from the realities of ongoing combat operations. As Yevhen Mezhevikin, deputy head of the General Staff’s Main Directorate for Doctrines and Training, explained,

“they are detached from our realities and the current fighting.”

Notably, the United Kingdom has already backed the proposal to relocate the bulk of training to Ukraine. This shift could significantly enhance the readiness of Ukrainian troops, as locally conducted drills would better reflect the unique conditions they face on the front lines.

Mandatory Military Training for University Students

Starting in 2026, mandatory military training will be introduced for students pursuing medical and pharmaceutical degrees. This policy aims to strengthen national defense by building a pool of recruits with foundational military skills. Together, these planned changes in training for both service members and students could substantially boost Ukraine’s defensive capabilities.
