The Armed Forces of Ukraine are implementing social support for military personnel and their families

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, has approved the concept of implementing social support for military personnel and their family members within the civil-military cooperation system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a roadmap. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The main goal of creating the support service is to take care of the families of military personnel and provide general information, support the wounded in healthcare facilities, coordinate and communicate with the families of prisoners, missing persons, and the deceased.

«These units will be deployed as part of the existing regular civil-military cooperation units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which have a separate structure and a vertical hierarchy at all levels of military management», – said Oleksandr Kutkov, head of the Central Civil-Military Cooperation Department of the General Staff.

Initially, the social support services will be staffed by military personnel released from captivity and by military personnel who, due to injuries or health conditions, cannot participate in combat operations. Corresponding decisions have already been made by Syrskyi.

Second Lieutenant Serhiy Lykhmanenko from the Fifth Separate Assault Brigade says that the patronage services are a kind of multi-hubs that unite specialists from various fields: medical, financial, personnel, psychological, public relations, etc. This enables quicker resolution of issues for military personnel and their families.

In accordance with the joint directive of the Minister of Defense and the Commander-in-Chief, the patronage services will soon become regular units in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which should elevate the support for military personnel and their families to a new quality level.

It should be noted that more than 75% of wounded defenders return to service after rehabilitation.

As reported, by the end of the year, the Ministry of Defense, together with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, should deploy a medical information system in military units.

Also, the government has adopted a resolution approving medical, rehabilitation, and recovery measures for the adaptation of persons released from enemy captivity.
