Russia attacked the energy island of Kharkiv: the city is fighting for heat and water.
According to ТСН: Today, Russian troops have been shelling critical infrastructure facilities in Kharkiv all day, which provide heat and water to the city's residents.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that recent strikes in the Slobidskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts were aimed specifically at these important facilities.
“The goal is clear - to destroy the energy island that we have been building for the last few years and to try to plunge our city, all of us, into cold and darkness,” Terekhov noted.
He also assured that utility services together with energy workers are working around the clock to maintain critical infrastructure in proper condition to provide Kharkiv residents with heat, water, and electricity.
It is worth noting that on December 24, Russian troops launched a series of targeted strikes on the CHP plant in the outskirts of Kharkiv, resulting in one person dead and many injured.
The shelling of critical infrastructure in Kharkiv highlights the ongoing threat to the civilian population. Local authorities are doing everything possible to protect vital facilities so that the city can function even in wartime conditions. Such strikes negatively impact the energy stability of the region, threatening the lives of its residents.
