China will safeguard its interests on the Korean Peninsula — Xi Jinping.
Chinese leader Xi Jinping stated that China will not allow conflict on the Korean Peninsula in accordance with the calls of the international community. This concerns the tensions caused by the military cooperation of North Korea with Russia.
During a meeting with US President Joe Biden at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Peru, Xi confirmed China's commitment to preventing conflicts and discord on the Korean Peninsula. However, he noted that China will not sit idly by if its own security and vital interests are threatened.
It is reported that this statement was made ahead of the G20 summit in Brazil. According to Bloomberg sources, Ukraine plans to pressure China regarding North Korea's cooperation with Russia. It is noteworthy that Pyongyang has sent more than 10,000 soldiers to assist Moscow. During the meeting with Xi, Biden also expressed his concern over North Korea's military strengthening.
