According to Espreso.tv: Analyst Larysa Voloshyna has examined the current political dynamics in Belarus, highlighting Beijing's support, President Alexander Lukashenko's discreet talks with European nations, and Ukraine's demand regarding Russian drilling platforms. She notes that Lukashenko is striving to push back against Russian pressure, even pointing fingers at Moscow's ambassador, Mikhail Glazyev, over the issue.

China has formally endorsed Belarus's sovereignty and independence, a significant move in the context of global diplomacy. Voloshyna observes that

“Throughout this war, China has avoided making harsh statements”

Ukraine's Demand and Russia's Role

On the international stage, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued an ultimatum following his meeting with the French president, underscoring the need for aligned action among nations. Voloshyna believes that

“it seems to me that even this ultimatum from Ukraine to Belarus is, in fact, a way of indirectly helping ordinary Lukashenko”

Lukashenko is also actively engaging with Russia; he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 26. Just two days later, on June 28, he held a meeting with Xi Jinping in Beijing. Voloshyna adds that “Lukashenko himself really does not want to get dragged into this war,” highlighting his determination to avoid direct involvement in the conflict.
