According to TSN.ua: Russia launched a massive overnight drone assault on Ukraine beginning April 1, 2026, causing civilian casualties, widespread fires, and a collapse of the power grid. First Fatalities in Cherkasy Region and Escalating Damage
The tragedy unfolded in the Cherkasy region, where the attack claimed its first victims. In the Zolotonosha district, four people were killed.
“We have four dead in the Zolotonosha district,” reported Ihor Taburets.This heartbreaking event marked the beginning of a wave of destruction that spread to other parts of the nation.
Air defense systems were working overtime in Chernivtsi and Lviv regions. In the Chernivtsi region, anti-aircraft units were confirmed to be active. A direct hit on an electrical substation in the village of Lypcha, Zakarpattia region, caused severe damage to the local energy infrastructure. Meanwhile, in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, approximately 11,000 subscribers lost power, compounding the difficulties faced by residents.

- In the Poltava community, four people were injured, including one child.
- An agricultural enterprise in the Ternopil region was struck, underscoring the scale of destruction inflicted by the hostile action.
“Glory to the Air Defense. The attack is ongoing,” said Ruslan Osypenko.Taras Pastukh also reported that “during the air raid, enemy UAVs were confirmed to have hit targets,” highlighting the severity of the situation across the country.
As a result of the attacks, Ukrainian Railways reported significant delays, pointing to a breakdown in rail services. Throughout the night and into the morning, Russia struck Ukraine with 339 drones, of which 298 were shot down. This assault is one of the largest in recent months, causing substantial loss of life and material damage.
The situation remains tense, with authorities urging citizens to follow safety protocols and remain vigilant during air raid warnings. Emergency services continue to work on mitigating the aftermath and restoring normal infrastructure operations.
