Kyiv Hit by Major Russian Strike: Roshen Factory Damaged, Casualties Reported.
Major Aerial Assault Targets Kyiv
According to TSN.ua: In a large-scale overnight assault on January 24, Russian forces launched dozens of drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles against Kyiv. The attack caused significant damage to a factory building belonging to the Roshen confectionery company. Initial reports from the capital also confirm there were fatalities as a result of the bombardment. This strike is part of a pattern of intensified attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure.
Disruption and Response in the Capital
The attack has severely disrupted life in Kyiv, with an air raid alert remaining in effect. Public transport has also been impacted; train service on the city's green metro line is now operating only between the 'Syrets' - 'Vydubychi' and 'Osokorky' - 'Chervonyi Khutir' stations. The assault resulted in substantial damage to infrastructure and loss of life. Kyiv authorities and emergency services are currently working to restore normal transit operations and address the aftermath of the attack.
This latest offensive underscores the ongoing severity of Russia's war against Ukraine and highlights the critical need for continued air defense and civilian preparedness in the capital. Such attacks on urban centers have become a grim feature of the conflict since its escalation in 2022.
