The German government reacted to Medvedev's threats to abduct Chancellor Merz.
According to ТСН: The German government firmly condemned the statements of former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev about the possible kidnapping of Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
"We strongly condemn such threats," said Deputy Government Spokesman Sebastian Hille. According to him, the government sees no reason to tighten security measures regarding the chancellor in connection with these statements.
"The existing security measures have proven their effectiveness and provide protection appropriate to the specific situation and level of threat facing the chancellor," Hille added.
He also emphasized that Merz is "securely and safely protected," and the employees of the Federal Criminal Police Department's security service "are among the best in the world."
Recall that Dmitry Medvedev, former President of Russia and Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, cynically stated that he could imagine operations to kidnap world leaders, similar to those carried out by the United States in Venezuela, directly mentioning Federal Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz.
"The abduction of neo-Nazi Merz could be a wonderful twist in this carnival series," Medvedev noted.
Additionally, earlier Medvedev accused Finland of "disgusting Russophobia" and threatened the neighboring country with "retribution."
These statements underscore the tension that exists between Russia and Western countries, particularly Germany. It is important that the German government actively responds to such threats, demonstrating both domestic and international readiness to protect its leaders from potential risks. Medvedev's sharp remarks may indicate an escalation in rhetoric in international politics amid ongoing conflicts and contradictions between Russia and Western states.
