Weather Forecast for Ukraine on February 19
According to TSN.ua: Ukraine is bracing for a severe weather event on February 19, with dangerous conditions including freezing rain, snowfalls, strong winds, and temperatures dropping as low as -13°C. In the north, central regions, and Odesa oblast, the mercury will fall to between -9°C and -12°C, while the rest of the country will see lows of -4°C to -9°C. In contrast, Crimea will experience much milder weather, with temperatures rising to +7°C. This kind of sharp temperature contrast across the country is typical for Ukrainian winters.
A yellow-level danger alert (Level I) has been issued nationwide due to expected heavy snowfall and blizzards. These are forecast to hit overnight in the Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, Poltava, and Sumy oblasts. In the capital, Kyiv, overnight temperatures will range from -8°C to -13°C, with daytime highs between -3°C and -8°C.
"The cyclone, which is still causing snow and wet snow today—with rain in the south—along with wet snow accumulation and blizzards, will leave our territory by tomorrow afternoon," noted meteorologist Natalka Didenko.
Regional Forecast
Regional forecasts vary significantly: Lviv will see overnight lows of -5°C to -7°C and daytime highs from -1°C to +1°C. In Kharkiv, temperatures will be -2°C to -4°C at night and 0°C to +2°C during the day. Dnipro will experience nighttime temperatures between -3°C and -5°C, not exceeding -5°C in the daytime. Odesa will face the coldest night, with frosts from -5°C to -10°C, but will warm to a daytime high of +4°C.
Consequently, residents across Ukraine should prepare for significant and hazardous weather changes that could disrupt road travel and daily life. The public is advised to follow all official safety guidance, especially when traveling within or between cities, as the combination of low temperatures and snowfall will create treacherous driving conditions and increase the risk of accidents. People should also take care of their health, as such sudden temperature shifts can be particularly challenging for those with weakened immune systems.
