Nissan Qashqai driver ran over a dog near Lviv: police opened a criminal case.
According to ТСН: The patrol police identified the driver of the Nissan Qashqai who hit a dog near Lviv and fled the scene. The incident occurred in the city of Pustomyty.
The law enforcement officers reported: 'The driver of the Nissan Qashqai has been identified, a criminal proceeding has been opened'.
The dog was taken to an animal shelter, where it is currently under veterinary supervision.
It is worth noting that on January 9, a video surfaced on social networks showing the driver harming the animal.
The driver was a 28-year-old resident of one of the villages in the Lviv region.
Criminal proceedings
Investigators have opened a criminal proceeding under part 1 of article 299 (Cruelty to animals) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to this article, the punishment provided is restriction of liberty for a period of one to three years or imprisonment for a period of two to three years.
Moreover, law enforcement officers in the Kyiv region have started checking materials circulating on social networks that indicate cruelty to animals. This incident, which sparked outrage among users, occurred in the Bilozerki district.
These events once again emphasize the importance of animal protection and the responsibility of drivers for their actions on the roads. Society reacts to such acts, and the necessary consequences for offenders can influence their attitude towards animals in the future. Law enforcement promises to continue the investigation to punish those responsible and prevent similar cases.
