Three children in Prykarpattia poisoned by carbon monoxide: what caused the incident.
According to ТСН: In Prykarpattia, three children became victims of carbon monoxide poisoning.
According to rescuers, two 10-year-old children and one 12-year-old were admitted to medical facilities. Doctors are already providing them with the necessary care.
Causes of poisoning
According to preliminary data, the poisoning occurred due to violations of safety rules during the use of a generator. Gas emissions entered the premises, leading to a dangerous concentration of toxic substances.
The danger of carbon monoxide
The State Emergency Service emphasizes that carbon monoxide is particularly dangerous as it has no odor, color, or taste. Poisoning can occur unnoticed, especially during sleep, posing a direct threat to life.
Rescuers once again urge adherence to safety rules when using generators and heating systems. Generators should only be used outdoors, at a safe distance from buildings, and it is strictly forbidden to install them in residential premises, garages, basements, or on balconies.
It is also important to monitor that exhaust gases do not enter the home, regularly check the functionality of heating devices and ventilation systems, not leave operating equipment unattended, and install carbon monoxide detectors.
The State Emergency Service emphasizes: following basic safety rules can save lives and help avoid tragedy.
It is worth reminding that the use of gasoline or diesel generators in enclosed spaces poses a serious threat to life and property. The law provides for administrative and criminal liability for violations of fire safety rules, and residents are advised to call the police and the management company in case of dangerous generator use. A safer alternative is inverter charging stations, which do not emit carbon monoxide and do not overheat.
This tragedy highlights the importance of adhering to safety rules when using household appliances. Parents and adults should remember the dangers of carbon monoxide and take measures to ensure the safety of their children. Overall, autumn is a time when it is especially important to be attentive to the use of heating devices.
