A 51-year-old rapist was detained in Kyiv: the victim was a 16-year-old girl.

According to ТСН: A 51-year-old man suspected of raping a 16-year-old girl was detained in Kyiv.

According to information from the Kyiv police, a report was received on the special line 102 from a man stating that a girl was lying unconscious near a building in the Darnytskyi district. Arriving at the scene, patrol officers found the 16-year-old girl, who reported that she had been raped by an unknown man. The girl was urgently transported to the hospital for medical assistance.

The circumstances of the case and the detention of the suspect

To clarify all the circumstances, the investigative operations group of the Darnytskyi police and juvenile prevention officers were involved. Law enforcement officers, as a result of search activities, established that the sexual crime against the minor was committed by a 51-year-old local resident.

The police found out that the day before the evening, the suspect invited a friend to his place, who came with a friend — the 16-year-old victim. During their stay in the apartment, the man made the girl drink alcohol, and when her friend left, he committed the crime.

The girl managed to escape from his hands and ran out into the street, where a friend helped her. Law enforcement officers detained the suspect, and investigators informed him of the suspicion under part 3 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which concerns rape committed against a minor.

The court chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention, for which he faces up to 12 years in prison.

It is reminded that recently a well-known athlete and jiu-jitsu coach was detained in Kyiv on suspicion of sexual violence against an 11-year-old girl.

This case draws attention to the problem of sexual violence and the safety of minors. Authorities urge parents to be more careful and closely monitor their children’s social contacts. The situation shows that, despite the efforts of law enforcement agencies, crimes against children are still cases that require serious response and preventive measures.
