According to ТСН: With the approach of the holidays, interest in children's products usually increases. However, along with demand comes the risk of purchasing low-quality products that may harm children's health. The State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection conducted inspections and published alarming data.

Thousands of Dangerous Toys

According to the inspection results in 2025, over 24,000 units of toys were found to be non-compliant with safety requirements. Among them, 55 types of dangerous products were recorded, more than half of which (28 types) are toys for children.

Laboratory studies confirmed the presence of serious threats. Among the risks posed by such gifts are:

  • allergic reactions;

  • acute poisoning;

  • chronic toxic effects due to excessive chemical content;

  • injuries due to unreliable construction.

“Our main task is to timely identify and withdraw products from circulation that may pose a risk to children's health. This becomes especially relevant during the pre-holiday period,” emphasized the Deputy Head of the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Andriy Kreitor.

How to Choose a Safe Gift

Experts advise parents to avoid purchasing toys at spontaneous markets and from sellers without documents.

Here is what to pay attention to when choosing:

  1. Labeling: It should be in Ukrainian, indicating the manufacturer and compliance with technical regulations.

  2. Smell and Parts: Avoid products with a strong chemical smell. Check the reliability of the fastening of parts and the absence of sharp edges.

  3. Safety for the Youngest: Ensure that the toy does not contain small parts that a child could swallow. The battery compartment must be securely fastened with a screw.

  4. Noise: The toy's sound level should not exceed established norms so as not to harm the child's hearing.

Before purchasing, you can also check the product on the “Attention” portal, which publishes lists of dangerous products.

Commissioned toys have become a popular choice among parents who value eco-friendliness, affordability, and high quality. Parents are advised to pay attention to the specifics of choosing toys in second-hand stores to avoid harming children.

In the context of preparing for the holidays, it is important to remember about children's safety when choosing gifts. Parents should remain vigilant and choose only verified and certified products to ensure joy and safety for their children at the same time. In summary, it should be noted that safe toys are a guarantee of health and good spirits for their little owners.
