Overnight Strike on Kharkiv: Two Districts Hit by Shahed Drones, One Injured.
March 16 Attack on Kharkiv
According to TSN.ua: On the night of March 16, Russian forces launched a drone assault on Kharkiv using Shahed drones, with impacts recorded in the Shevchenkivskyi and Kyivskyi districts. At least one person was injured during the attack. According to officials, a 34-year-old man suffered an acute stress reaction.
The first Shahed drone struck the Kyivskyi district, causing significant damage. Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that a second drone hit the border area between the Kyivskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, damaging transportation infrastructure. No further casualties have been reported from that strike so far.
Aftermath of the Attack
Governor Oleh Syniehubov confirmed that one person was injured in the shelling and that medical teams are providing full assistance. This incident is part of a broader campaign: on March 16, Russian occupiers also attacked Zaporizhzhia, leaving over 7,500 households without power. Across the region, the enemy carried out 710 strikes on 34 settlements over the course of the day.
This attack on Kharkiv highlights the ongoing aggressive strategy of Russian forces, who aim to destabilize the situation in Ukraine through massive bombardments.
Damage to transportation infrastructure in cities like Kharkiv can have severe consequences for civilians and the economy. Given the escalation of hostilities across multiple regions, it is critical that local authorities and emergency services remain prepared to handle crises and ensure the safety of residents.
