Reward for Information on Berlin Power Cable Arson
According to TSN.ua: German authorities have announced a reward of up to one million euros for information leading to the identification of those responsible for an act of arson targeting electrical cables in Berlin. This type of sabotage against critical infrastructure is taken extremely seriously in Germany. The attack caused a power outage affecting approximately 45,000 households and over 2,000 businesses. A group calling itself the 'Vulkangruppe' has claimed responsibility for the attack; this organization, active since 2011, is already known for similar crimes in Berlin and the surrounding state of Brandenburg.
Details of the Attack
The fire was ignited at a cable bridge over the Teltow Canal, damaging crucial main power supply lines. Germany's Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) has stated that it will accept information related to the case until February 24, 2026.
"For information received by this date that helps establish the identity of the perpetrator or perpetrators, the Federal Criminal Police Office is offering a reward of up to one million euros," representatives of the agency noted.
Iris Spranger, a representative of the Federal Criminal Police Office, emphasized that this is a unique case requiring an urgent response. Authorities are urging the public to actively participate in the investigation and report any information that could help solve this crime.
The arson attack on the power cables has had serious consequences not only for Berlin residents but also for the broader energy supply infrastructure in Germany. The widespread power outage impacted thousands of homes and companies, potentially leading to significant economic losses. The government's attempt to engage the public in the investigation underscores the gravity of the situation and the need for a swift response to such crimes.
