Midas case figure Mindich speaks out about allegations: I have been appointed guilty.
According to ТСН: Businessman Timur Mindich, a figure in the "Midas" case, has spoken out for the first time about allegations of involvement in corruption schemes in the energy and defense sectors, noting that he is under "great pressure." He spoke with a journalist in Israel.
Mindich's Statement
Mindich claims that he has no involvement in any offenses, calling the case against him a "major media case," with the media component accounting for "about 90%." In his opinion, the recordings from NABU were released selectively, without context.
"I cannot refute them (the accusations - Ed.). They exist. The investigation is ongoing,"
— he responds, commenting on the accusations from NABU and SAP, but refusing to discuss the details of the investigation.
Acquaintances and Relations with Politicians
Mindich confirmed his acquaintance with former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and former Energy Minister Hermann Galushchenko, but emphasized that he "never in his life" gave them instructions.
"I have been appointed guilty. A million things are attributed to me… These are all attributed things,"
— stated the businessman.
He also denied close contacts with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, stating that earlier communication was quite rare, and now it is completely absent.
"Unfortunately, I communicate with Zelensky very rarely. Now I do not communicate at all, and throughout his presidency, we very rarely communicated,"
— Mindich said about his contacts with the president.
Allegations and Sanctions
Recall that Mindich is suspected of a large-scale corruption scheme in "Energoatom." He left Ukraine a few hours before the searches in his apartment in Kyiv; the reasons for his departure are linked to having three underage children.
NABU suspects businessman Timur Mindich of creating a criminal organization, laundering money obtained by illegal means, as well as illegally influencing Rustem Umerov, the former Minister of Defense. The case was opened on August 21, 2025.
President Volodymyr Zelensky imposed sanctions for three years against the figures in the case concerning "Energoatom." Mindich has been assigned 17 restrictions for three years, as well as one — a lifelong deprivation of state awards of Ukraine.
In December, a preventive measure was chosen for Mindich in absentia, in the form of detention without bail, as this is not possible within the framework of the absentia trial. NABU Director Semen Kryvonos explained that this is a necessary procedure for declaring the businessman wanted internationally.
Cases related to corruption in Ukraine continue to remain in the spotlight, as the properties of such schemes affect the economic situation in the country. Ongoing investigations like these are crucial for restoring public trust and ensuring accountability.
