Oschadbank Launches Nationwide Accessibility Training: How Customer Service Will Improve Across All Regions.
Accessibility Training Program
According to Espreso.tv: A new accessibility training initiative, supported by Tetiana Lomakina, Advisor and Commissioner to the President of Ukraine on Accessibility Issues, has brought together professionals from various fields to improve communication with people with disabilities. This effort is part of the nationwide program led by First Lady Olena Zelenska, titled 'Accessibility Means You CAN.'
Oschadbank, the organizer of the training, has been actively advancing accessibility in Ukraine for over 12 years. Currently, approximately 750 of its branches meet state accessibility standards, reflecting the bank's commitment to ensuring equal access to financial services for all citizens. To date, the training sessions have reached over 400 participants across 13 events, with plans to expand these workshops to every region of Ukraine.
The Importance of an Accessible Environment
Tetiana Lomakina emphasized the critical need for barrier-free environments, stating:
“A person must receive their service without any barriers.” — Tetiana Lomakina
This highlights the necessity of improving communication skills among professionals who interact with individuals with disabilities. Anton Tiutiun, a training participant, also noted:
“We will not send an SMS to someone who cannot see it.” — Anton Tiutiun
This underscores the importance of tailoring services to meet the needs of all customers.
Overall, this accessibility training represents a significant step toward building an inclusive society where everyone has equal opportunities to access services and support.
The initiative underscores the value of collaboration between government agencies, the private sector, and the public to make services accessible to all population groups. The 'Accessibility Means You CAN' program has the potential to serve as a foundation for further social inclusion reforms in Ukraine, which is especially crucial amid current challenges. These training sessions also aim to foster a more sensitive and responsible approach to working with people with disabilities at all levels of society.
