According to ТСН: Ostap Stupka, a Ukrainian actor, recently commented on his divorce from his third wife and received a three-year prison sentence for an accident that occurred in Kyiv while under the influence of alcohol.

The Holosiivskyi District Court ruled to deprive the actor of liberty for three years and banned him from driving for eight years. Ostap Stupka has filed an appeal against this decision.

Defense and Arguments

The actor's lawyers petitioned for a leniency, suggesting to replace the imprisonment with a fine of 170,000 hryvnias and to revoke his driving license for five years. They confirmed that Ostap admitted his guilt, did not impede the investigation, and covered the medical expenses of the victim amounting to 23,000 dollars.

Moreover, the defense provided the court with positive reviews about the actor from colleagues and documents evidencing his contribution to supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Decision of the Appeal Court

Ostap Stupka must serve his sentence in a correctional center for three years and will not be able to operate vehicles for eight years. The decision of the appeal court has already come into legal force; however, it can be appealed to the Supreme Court within three months.

In April 2023, the actor was involved in a car accident when his SUV crashed into a parked vehicle, which was occupied by a driver who sustained serious injuries. The police officers who arrived at the scene confirmed that Stupka was under the influence of alcohol, after which judicial proceedings began.

This incident caused a wide public outcry and raised questions about the responsibility of public figures. Stupka is known not only as a star of the stage but also as a person whose influence can extend to the youth, thus the outcome of the case has become an important topic for media discussions.
