New Bill Proposes Online Verification for Pension Eligibility in Ukraine.
Streamlining Pension Access in Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: A new bill has been registered in Ukraine, aiming to simplify the process for citizens to receive their pensions. The proposed changes would make data from state electronic registries the primary source for verifying an individual's work history. This reform is designed to optimize the pension calculation process by providing easier access to the necessary information.
Under the draft law, if data is unavailable in these state registries, pension eligibility would need to be confirmed through alternative documents, witness testimonies, or a court ruling. For those who worked before January 1, 2004, the traditional work record book will remain the key document for proving employment history.
Documents for Proving Work History
In cases where a work record book is lost or contains errors, the following documents may be accepted to confirm employment:
- Data from the registry of insured persons,
- Extracts or certificates based on company records,
- Identification cards, employment references, written labor contracts,
- Trade union membership cards.
To provide further clarity, the following is a list of alternative methods for confirming work history if state registry data is absent:
- Other supporting documents,
- Testimonies from at least two witnesses,
- A court decision.
This legislative initiative could significantly ease the pension application process for many Ukrainians by simplifying how they prove their work history. This move is part of broader efforts to modernize the country's social security system.
The implementation of this bill is expected to substantially reduce delays in the pension registration process.
Electronic registries offer a faster and more accurate way to access required information. This shift could positively impact the level of social security for the population, particularly for individuals who face difficulties with documents that confirm their employment record.
