In Lviv, a driver ran over a dog twice and fled: police have launched an investigation.

According to ТСН: Today, animal rights activists from the "Home of Rescued Animals" published a video of a shocking incident: an SUV ran over a dog twice in a parking lot, and the driver didn't even stop. The animal cried out in pain, but unfortunately, the drivers left the scene. The strange indifference of the witnesses was also striking — none of them provided assistance to the injured dog.

"This happened in the suburbs of Lviv. The dog lay in the cold for a long time (the video is dated January 8). We took her as soon as we received the video and the location from a caring person. We brought the dog to the clinic, and she is currently undergoing ultrasound, tests, and examination. The dog is crying in pain. We don't understand why the driver left the scene, why the witnesses were so indifferent, why the dog was left to die in the cold. Such wild indifference... We hope the dog will recover. This is a middle-aged animal, a girl," said volunteer Marta Andrus.

Volunteers plan to file a report with the police of Lviv region, but they are currently waiting for the results of the examination to better inform the law enforcement about the dog's injuries.

Spokeswoman for the Lviv police Alina Podreyko confirmed that the Main Department of National Police in Lviv region is already aware of this incident and is clarifying the circumstances to take appropriate measures.

This incident has become a disturbing signal about society's indifference to animals in trouble. We hope that doctors can quickly help the injured dog, and law enforcement will take action against those who disregarded its life. Reviving discussions of such cases can contribute to improving attitudes towards helpless animals in our society.
