A Story of Perseverance: 139 tries to pass the written driving exam

According to TSN.ua: In the city of Tarnow, Poland, a local resident took the theoretical driving exam 139 times over nine years before finally achieving a passing score. This remarkable case stands out because most people typically pass after just 1 to 3 attempts to obtain their driver's license.

The man’s efforts began in 2017, and the total cost of exam fees reached approximately 1,800 euros. This highlights the significant time and financial commitment he made in his quest to become a licensed driver.

Driving expert Pawel Gurgul commented on the case:

“This individual refused to give up and kept retaking the test. It shows just how important getting a driver’s license was to him.” - Pawel Gurgul.

Notably, the man had been using a demo version of the test that did not cover all possible questions. This may explain why the process dragged on for so long. Despite the setbacks, he gradually lost fewer points over time and eventually passed, proving his determination.

An Impressive Case Among Others

While this story is striking, it is not a record. Another driver attempted the theoretical exam 163 times over 17 years, showing that passing such tests can be an extremely difficult challenge for some people.

This tale underscores not only the struggles individuals can face in obtaining a driver’s license but also the power of persistence in reaching a goal. It also raises questions about whether current testing systems adequately serve all candidates. Cases like these may prompt discussions on improving test materials and driver education approaches.
