Russia attacked energy facility in Chernihiv: tens of thousands of people without electricity.
According to ТСН: On December 24, Russian military forces attacked energy infrastructure in Chernihiv using drones, resulting in thousands of residents being left without electricity.
This was reported by the city council and 'Chernihivoblenergo'.
“Regarding the explosion that Chernihiv residents might have heard around 14:00 on December 24 - the energy infrastructure was under attack,”
As a result of the shelling, an important energy facility in the Chernihiv region was seriously damaged, leading to a power outage for tens of thousands of subscribers.
“As soon as the security situation allows, energy workers will begin emergency recovery operations,”
Furthermore, during the day and night yesterday, the Russian Federation carried out massive attacks on the regional center using drones, focusing on civilian and critical infrastructure facilities. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but hits were recorded, including Russian 'Geran' drones striking an energy facility.
After the attack, half the city was left without electricity due to the actions of the Russian Federation. One of the targeted critical infrastructure facilities was damaged, and a fire also broke out there. People were unharmed.
This attack has become part of the deliberate actions of Russian troops trying to harm the Ukrainian energy system. This leads to serious disruptions in electricity supply and the resulting inconveniences for local residents. Energy workers continue to work on restoring electricity supply as soon as it is safe to do so.
