Defense Ministry Advisor Warns of 'Mass Grave' Risk if a Shahed Drone Strikes a Train.
War in Ukraine – Russia Intensifies Attacks on Rail Network
According to TSN.ua: Serhiy Beskrestnov, an advisor to Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, has raised alarm over the potential for a catastrophic loss of life if an enemy Shahed drone hits a passenger train car. He warned that such an incident could result in a 'mass grave.' As a precaution, passengers are urged to move at least 100 meters away from the train during evacuations to reduce the risk of casualties.
On March 31, the Russian military launched an assault on Ukraine’s railway infrastructure. The attack damaged a train station in Sloviansk, Donetsk region, highlighting the enemy’s focus on critical transport hubs. Additionally, in the Kirovohrad region, Russian drones struck a locomotive maintenance facility, damaging several engines.
Threats and Safety Recommendations
This situation underscores the dangers facing Ukrainian rail services and the urgent need for enhanced passenger safety measures. Given recent events, it is crucial to follow evacuation guidelines and remain vigilant while traveling.
The strikes on Ukraine’s railway infrastructure emphasize the strategic importance of transport during wartime, as the rail system is vital for moving military supplies and civilians. Damage to stations and technical facilities can severely disrupt logistics and travel speeds, ultimately affecting the country’s overall security. As the threat grows, Ukrainian authorities must take all necessary steps to protect infrastructure and ensure the safety of citizens on the move.
