Odessa and Rome signed an agreement on the preservation of cultural heritage: what does it mean.

The cooperation between Odessa and Rome is becoming increasingly active. The signed document contains an agreement on the preservation of the cultural heritage of the Southern Palmyra. This was reported by the mayor of Odessa, Hennadiy Trukhanov.

Representatives of the Odessa city authorities have concluded an agreement with Rome on joint work in the field of cultural heritage preservation. This involves the exchange of experience, conducting expertise of sites, and technical support for our city.

“This is a concrete format of cooperation that allows for progress: exchange of experience, expertise, technical support. We are not talking about formal ties, but about practical assistance from the capital of Italy”

, noted the mayor of Odessa, Hennadiy Trukhanov.

It should be noted that delegations from both cities created a joint working group of specialists from the Roman Superintendency and the Odessa City Council.

Despite the fact that Odessa is part of the UNESCO list, the city currently lacks governing bodies for cultural heritage. Therefore, the city authorities are interacting with Italian partners to transfer experience and improve the situation.

The signed document between Odessa and Rome on the preservation of the cultural heritage of the Southern Palmyra indicates the activation of cooperation in this direction. The agreement includes the exchange of experience, conducting necessary expertise and technical support, which will promote the strengthening of cultural ties between the cities and the development of dialogue for the preservation of valuable historical objects.
