Russian Drone Strike on Synelnykove Station Disrupts Rail Service Between Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia.
Railway Infrastructure Targeted in Attack
According to TSN.ua: On January 30, Russian forces launched a drone strike against the railway infrastructure at the Synelnykove station in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The attack damaged multiple electric train carriages, freight cars, locomotives, tracks, power lines, as well as administrative and industrial buildings. Preliminary reports indicate there were no casualties from the assault.
This incident has severely disrupted train traffic between the cities of Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia. These disruptions are part of a broader Russian strategy to target Ukraine's critical logistics and supply networks. Alterations to commuter train schedules will be in effect from January 31 through February 3, with services now terminating at and originating from the Pysmenna station. The following schedule changes are planned:
- #6104 Synelnykove-1 - Pysmenna
- #6135 Pysmenna - Synelnykove-1
- #6110, #6130, #6122 Dnipro-Holovnyi - Pysmenna
- #6127, #6141 Pysmenna - Dnipro-Holovnyi
Additionally, from February 1 to 3, the routing of train #6109 Pysmenna - Dnipro-Holovnyi will also be modified.
Impact on Regional Transport
Due to the situation, Yuliia Svyrydenko, a representative of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, announced that all trains previously scheduled to depart from Zaporizhzhia will now originate from Dnipro. Passengers for evening routes are being transported by bus transfers provided by the administration.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has noted that Russia is currently shifting its focus to strikes on logistics, particularly targeting key railway junctions.
This attack forms part of a wider Russian campaign aimed at destroying Ukraine's critical infrastructure, which has significant potential to disrupt regional transport and economic stability. Strikes on railway networks cripple supply chains and complicate the movement of people and goods, creating severe challenges in an active war zone.
